I am a kewpie, a mascot of the Bathhouse Association. The kewpie of Ota Ward has a white towel with red streaks across it.

At the bathhouse, let us introduce specialty products from Misato-cho, Akita Prefecture, a sister city of Ota Ward.

“Okushimizu”[奥清水]
We produce this reputable sake by fermenting rice called Akita Bizan-nishiki, to which water seeped from the Ohu range is added.

“Niteko” soda pop[仁手古 サイダー]
This soda pop has a 100-year-long history. It was first produced at Rokugo, Misato-cho, Akita Prefecture, which is famous for its quality spring water. The water is carbonated into soft, sweet, mellow beverage for which the best use is made of its fine original quality.

“Niteko” cider[仁手古 りんごサイダー]
This fruity cider is a product where faint sour-sweet flavor of apple is finely combined with refreshing carbonated water. It is favored especially by children and women for its refreshing taste.

These products are only available at the bathhouses in Ota Ward as far as the metropolitan district is concerned.

Tasteful pickles have arrived here all the way from Misato-cho, Akita Prefecture. Locally grown fresh vegetables that are preserved with utmost care are now available in the form of pickles.

“Ibrigakko”, among others, is a specialty of Akita Prefecture and touted as an exquisite piece of food. It is produced like this: daikon, a Japanese radish, and carrots are hung from the ceiling above a sunken hearth until they are uniquely smoke-dried and then pickled in sake lees. Never miss a chance of tasting it!
